THANKS, GEORGE BUSH, FOR A NEW ARMS RACE

Posted by Paul Chislett on February 25, 2007

You know, we were mostly dumb-f*ck lucky to have survived the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s without blowing ourselves up. We won’t be so lucky this time. This BBC World headline is the only one I could find in a quick perusal of news sites and the Iranian rocket launch is yet to be confirmed. If it is, then it is only a matter of time till there is a nuclear exchange somewhere.

I am an optimist, but the men with guns running the world view themselves as steely-eyed pragmatists which leaves the door open to justifying even the most terrifying actions.

The Canadian government should be far more vocal in terms of denouncing increasing state violence in the world.
