A socialist critique of the Academy Awards

Posted by Paul Chislett on February 28, 2007

The glitz, glamour and glad-handing are over for another year at the Oscars. Personally I am waiting to see how ‘Children of Men’ will do at next year’s awards. Maybe it doesn’t matter.

The war in Iraq and a threatened one with Iran should have every American out in the streets trying to bring down the Bush regime. We should be out in the streets in Canada too for that matter. When well-known people have a chance to speak out and they don’t, what does that say about us as a people?
